a little scare

Last weekend: shooting for 4 newspapers in both Kansas and Colorado at the RMAC basketball tournament in Colorado Springs. I’ll leave you with something visual until I can update on Friday. Or maybe Thursday? Let’s just not settle on a date yet.

While sitting at my desk in the office tonight at 1:30am, I reached into my bag to find my iPod so I could dump brand new Fiona Apple tracks on it.

“This will be great, listening to these leaked tracks while I….. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THIS THING??? I have the firewire cord in the right place, yes? Why is it rattling when I shake it? *crying* I should have never left it in the bottom of my bookbag. Maybe I should call Rachel [my sister]…. she has an iPod and can cry with me. No answer… time to look on eBay. They MUST have some old 5gb versions like mine… WAIT. Google time.”

After a quick search on Google, I decide to try resetting it by holding down the Menu and Play buttons simultaneously. Up pops the Apple logo.

I’m fine, now. And so my iPod lives on, just 4 years young. Still a cripple, with a loooooose scroll wheel.

If you’re fourteen, watch out.

“Once they [girls] get to be about 14, it’s hard to tell.”

I’m in between classes, drinking some orange juice and checking email, and all I can hear is “fuckin’, fuck fuck fuck.” Instead of “like,” they’ve decided on the F word as their crutch.

The best part? Hearing them spend 20 minutes making fun of white trash, not even aware of their total inclusion in the group.
